Job Description:

Technical Manager, reports to Plant Manager Indirect reports: Director of Automation/Engineering, Injection Molding Director At this location they manufacture specialty containers, i.e. deli type containers. There are no direct reports. A Bachelor s Degree is required. In Mold Labeling and automation/PLC experience is a must Main Responsibilities: Manage Automation and Maintenance Departments Employee Administration Safety and Environment in the departments Technical coordination with contracted suppliers Field of responsibilities Manage the daily activities of the Automation and Maintenance Departments: o Manage all activities in the Department, including Plant Automation, Product Handling, Process Optimization, IML (In Mold Labeling) Systems and processes, and support start up from a technical machine and automation perspective for new tooling test runs and qualifications, both at Supplier and the plant. Ensure operating efficiency is maintained with the performance of all Molding equipment, Robotics systems, Ancillary Equipment, take out systems, and building infrastructure. Assist all departments in optimizing productivity and product flow. Assist all departments on capital project justifications specifications and implementations. Travel as required to address qualification test runs, customer concerns, training, etc. (approx. 5% travel) Coordinate training programs with plant departments. Prepare detailed CAD drawings where needed and required. Solicit and coordinate services with outside vendors and contractors. Assist the Operations Manager with day to day operations. Ensure the implementation of, and verify that the staff is in compliance with, all safety/environmental regulations. Evaluate Automation and Maintenance Department personnel according to company policies at least once a year and recommend individual annual merit review increases. Implement and Enforce the ISO and SQF Quality System: o Foster statistical process control and ensure continuous improvement of the quality of the product, process and service. o Ensure, in cooperation with the ISO and SQF Management Representative, that the Quality System is continuously adjusted and that it is adhered to at all times. o Continuously update personal knowledge about the ISO 9001-2000 and SQF Standard's requirements to the Company's organization and Quality System. Ensure that all equipment that has an influence on the quality of the products or that is used o verify the quality of the products is calibrated according to the calibration plan by qualified personnel. Budgeting and Cost Control: o Prepare and submit for the Plant Manager's review and approval all capital requirements for the Automation and Maintenance Department each budget year and ensure compliance with and execution of all approved capital grants.
