JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY The Technical Project Manager will report to the Research and Development Technical Manager. The position will work with EMI programmers and Imaging personnel to manage the development, deployment, testing and maintenance of complex software programs for MGH Radiology. Key responsibilities include project management of software development process of MGH Imaging applications. The Technical Project Manager will also manage the general operations of imaging software systems. The position will work with a high level of autonomy and be expected to provide technical and administrative leadership to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Development Responsibilities
Continually seeks opportunities to increase end-user satisfaction and improve system efficiency. Develops functional specifications based on end-user requirements.
Communicates specifications to the Software Engineering Group and develops project plans for the development, testing and implementation of the specifications.
Develops, perform and document functional testing of application features as part of the development processes.
Manages vendor relationship to ensure the needs of users are achieved.
Has responsibility to ensure the system meets or exceeds PHS and MGH guidelines for the security of confidential information.
Investigate system issues and determine the appropriate course of action to resolve the issues.
System Operations Responsibilities
Responsible for day-to-day operation of imaging software systems at MGH including the creation and execution of database scripts under the direction of the R&D Technical Manager.
Communicates important system updates, enhancements and issues with the imaging department and system users.
Identifies features, bug fixes and other enhancements to improve overall functionality and reliability of the system.
Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Excellent communication skills are required - both oral and written.
Conducts meetings as required with project team and other stakeholders (Software Engineering Group, End Users, 3rd Party Vendors) with goal of providing updates on development status, progress on outstanding issues and new major issues.
Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.
Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Demonstrated work experience managing projects in Healthcare setting preferable with Epic Radiant.
Practical experience with implementation or management of Healthcare/Radiology Information Management systems
Experience using project management tracking systems (MS Project, VersionOne).
Experience in project management practices PMP a plus
Knowledge of the development process of health care/imaging related (Radiology) applications.
Experience managing HL7 and DICOM integration required.
Understanding of Internet and client/server architectures
Understanding of application development including analysis, coding, testing, and documenting using iterative software methodologies (Agile).
Required: Bachelor's Degree, Master's Preferred. 5 7 years in related position of software QA or Healthcare IT with progressive responsibility managing large complex projects and functional teams.
