JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY SmartSource, Inc is seeking a Technical Solution Engineer for a full time, permanent opportunity in Greensboro.
The Technical Solution Engineer is the key enabler for our clients strategic program to significantly elevate design vertical standards and establish standard operating environment globally across the various brands of the corporation.
The Technical Solution Engineer will work closely with business users to proactively address technologies needs of the creative &product design group as well as on-going IT support (Level 2 - Level 3) in a global enterprise environment supporting 220 product designers (initially) based in different locations across the US and Europe. The individual will also provide solution and engineering assistance focusing mainly on Mac design based technologies, but including Windows as well. The responsibilities will include keeping up with technology & design industry trend, evaluating, designing, developing and managing computer images, self-services infrastructure, evaluating new technologies, engineering desktop solutions and resolving design technology-related problems. In this role, this individual will assist stakeholders, project managers in the proposing, evaluating, planning and establishing technical direction of design based projects to implement technology solutions to drive business growth.
The candidate will be required to inform and provide a high-level of technical advice, scoping and proposing infrastructure architecture and solutions, guidance on services provided and management of the integration of designer hardware/software solution.
The candidate will regularly collaborate and communicate with the Brand's business designers, GBT Architecture, Engineering, End User Services and Service Desk.
. Oversee all aspects of the infrastructure environment, operational support, and management of the technology and end user computing platform. Must also include a strong working knowledge of Windows desktops and integrating platforms within an enterprise environment.
. Participate in the requirements gathering, design, testing, implementation, operation and Maintenance of technologies supporting the design group
. Provide creative solutions for problems that arise in the day-to-day workflow
. Present technical solutions to architecture, peers and the business stakeholders
. Desktop hardening through security best practices and penetration testing
. Compare, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and integrate systems into the computing environment
. Complete hardware and software builds, installs, changes, and configurations. Analyze, tune, and troubleshoot operating system to achieve optimum performance levels.
. Integration/binding of Mac OS systems with directory services (LDAP/Active Directory) and group policy management
. Documentation of system architecture and management within standard operating procedures (SOPs)
. Draw up detailed technology solution proposal plan for each of the phases of the work ahead - user needs assessment, pilot planning and implementation, full roll-out planning and implementation as well as the on-going beyond the project phase.
. Understand current processes relating to computer architecture, procurement, user support and
project management and integrate all efforts to be compatible with established procedures.
. Work with Designers and Business Stakeholders to drive development of new processes and procedures to support Elevated Design initiative.
. Assist with development of Elevated Technical support model and process to enhance the current support for Designers
. Execute the user needs assessment, identifying areas of highest need for each of the brand in terms of hardware, software and support and prioritizing procurement accordingly
