POSITION: Technical Writer

BayFirst Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer who will review and edit prescribed acquisitions planning documents, prepare instruction manuals, how-to guides, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information. The technical writer must be able to understand complex engineering and acquisition information and communicate the information in standard planning documents for coordinated reviews and approval. Additional administrative responsibilities will be required including document tracking, filing, knowledge management structure, etc.
Provide support to U.S. Coast Guard CG-932 Directorate and CG-9323/9325, Boats Program for the 47 MLB. As the Technical Writer, the focus will be to review and edit all required planning documents and other program documents assigned for the 47 Motor Life Boat (MLB) program. Provide support to the government Acquisition Program Manager (APM)/Team Lead on the 47 MLB Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) developing analysis, drafting acquisitions documents and technical specifications to be included in the request for proposal (RFP), contract deliverable lists, maintain tracking and developmental reports as tools for potential use by other Government led projects. The contractor shall research, identify and analyze alternate solutions from all government provided products. The contractor shall collate inputs and draft products and provide technical edits based on past/current acquisition experience, etc. Provide support for life cycle logistic planning as part of the SLEP program. Manage reporting requirements & procedures for internal & external documentation. Meet daily with CG-9323/9325 Program leadership in support of acquisitions program development including correspondence, white papers, briefing slides, etc. Represent the MLB Program at technical and logistic meetings and working groups. Interface with sponsor staff & stakeholders; local travel may be required.
BA/BS in English or other writing related specialty. Minimum of five years experience in technical writing with an understanding for systems and naval engineering and acquisitions and program management. Be able to obtain a positive government background check and experience with standard office software.
Bachelor s degree is required
