Description:
To be technically competent to conduct whatever testing
is necessary to conform to regulatory requirements and
maintain quality standards. The lab technician must be
thoroughly knowledgeable in all aspects of the product
standards for the products being tested so that
deviation can be quickly detected and reported.
Deviations from standards that exceed the allowable
tolerances must be reported to the Lab/QA Supervisor
immediately so that corrective action can be taken. The
establishment of a history of quality, through clean and
accurate recording of results, is also the
responsibility of the laboratory technician.
Requirements:
1.
Conduct the testing of all raw products, ingredients
and packaging materials as set forth in the
established Quality Control Program.
2.
Accurately test all samples of products during the
formulation and processing as indicated in QC
Program.It is imperative that the testing be done
accurately and quickly to facilitate the most
efficient production schedule.
3.
Conduct a complete evaluation of the finished
products as indicated in the QC Program.The results
of this testing must be recorded in prescribed
manner in the proper forms.
4.
Evaluate the product at the termination of its shelf
life and be able to identify trends in quality that
may represent potential problems.
5.
Prepare reagents, media, chemical solutions and all
other materials necessary for routine testing.
6.
Assume responsibility for safety of self and others
on all equipment and report any and all safety
hazards, immediately.
7.
Maintain professional relationship with regulatory,
production, and maintenance personnel.
8.
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
9.
Alert management when products are out of
specification.
10.
Perform other duties as assigned per business need.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be

EDUCATION and/or Experience:
* Technical training as indicated by, at minimum, an
Associate s Degree in biology, chemistry, or
dairy/food science.
* Must be able to obtain license from the State of CT
Dept. of Agriculture to perform inhibitor (AppN) and
Bacteria testing on milk and milk products within
6-12 months of employment.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated aptitude for effective, efficient use
of MS Excel, Word, and other computer programs.
* Highly motivated individuals able to work in a fast
paced environment with minimum supervision
LANGUAGE SKILLS
*
Ability to read and write, and interpret documents
such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals.
*
Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple
instructions.Ability to effectively present
information in one-on-one and small group situations
to other employees of the organization.

Ability to hear and perceive information at normal
spoken word levels.

Must be able to perform basic math skills
