JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Purpose

Thisposition will be responsible for contributing technology experience to the developmentof AM processes for the production of aerospace components. Responsibility willinclude implementing systems of work and being directly responsible for thetheoretical and analytical development of AM processes. This role will have akey cross-functional role in identifying AM technology requirements forproduction insertion and subsequently creating and implementing technical work plansto provide a viable solution. Key Responsibilities

May provide leadership to less experienced Engineers and support personnel relative to the accountabilities listed below
*

Serve as the Technical Lead of AM process development work packages
*

Responsible for identifying and planning technical aspects of AM feasibility studies and projects
*

Interface with the customers and suppliers on the research project(s)
*

Organize the technical content of projects
*

Support Technology Readiness Level reviews to support technology implementation
*

Support the development of Cost Models and support Business Case analyses
*

Organize periodic project reviews within the GKN technology organization and with the customer to ensure good communication of project achievements, issues and progress against plan
*

Work closely with the Project Manager and Principal Investigator to develop AM processes and Chief and Site Engineering to deploy technologies into production
*

Stay current with related technical activity within GKN s global technology team (and through related technology organizations) & ensure effective exchange of results and issues
*

Define the work breakdown structure and manage the project plan against key milestones and deliverables
*

Actively participate in program to promote Healthy & Safety of team members
*

Manage a risk register for the assigned work package by identifying risks as well as mitigation plans
*

Prepare monthly Program Management Review presentations
*

Support the delivery of global R&T programs at St. Louis to time, cost and quality
*

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Experience / Skills

Education

B.S. in Engineering or Science, Welding Engineering or Materials Science degree is a plus. Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience

*

Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience
*

Additive Manufacturing and/or other technology experience required; equipment operation experience preferred
*

Experience with robotics or laser applications preferred
*

Experience with LabVIEW preferred
*

Excellent communication skills - oral, written and presentation
*

Knowledge of aerospace applications preferred
*

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
*

Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain efficient working in the face of challenging and changing work
