SolarCity is looking for a Sales Tax Analyst who will report to the Sr. Tax Supervisor, Indirect Tax and will be responsible for monthly sales tax compliance, registration maintenance, account reconciliations, audit support, and annual property tax filings.
Prepare all monthly quarterly sales and use tax returns and payments
Prepare and maintain sales tax registrations
Prepare reconciliations of sales and use tax general ledger accounts
Maintain database of active exemption certificates, including gathering and reviewing for completeness, and submitting for review to the sales tax supervisor, and upon approval updating Vertex database
Prepare required sales tax work papers
Assist with preparation of property tax returns and work papers, including gathering and reviewing expense accounts and invoices, and updating filings database as applicable
Assist with updating use tax and property tax payments forecast
Provide support for audits and various other tax related projects
Bachelor s degree in Accounting
3-5 years of multi-state sales and use tax compliance experience in a corporate tax department of a multinational organization
Knowledge of GST in Canada and VAT will be helpful
Ability to multi-task specifically by reconciling for and preparing over 250 sales tax returns per month including the ability to maintain certified mail receipts and electronic filings
General understanding of indirect and transactional tax principles and concepts
Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy
Prior experience with Vertex O series 6 Returns a plus
Experience in an ERP environment; Microsoft AX or Common Assets a plus
Intermediate Excel skills are required
Detail-oriented, resourceful and able to manage shifting priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to positively and effectively interact with internal and external customers
Regular, reliable and predictable performance required
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal screen. Additional pre-employment driving and drug screens may be required based on job responsibilities
