This position is responsible for motivating, managing, training, influencing, and owning the Distribution territory assigned to increase sales, margin and brand awareness of Formica in North America. Increases sales at existing distribution, maintains SKU balance & profitability. Actively identifies and pursues new projects and customer opportunities. Develops and drives target accounts from inception-maintenance. Develops, maintains and exploits internal and external relationships with key Regional and National Account personnel that result in increased sell-in and sell-through on a local basis. Develops and implements an annual channel sales plan to achieve overall and category specific growth for all assigned areas; including goals by distributor location. Utilizes the reporting tools as appropriate to manage and communicate trends. Works closely with the specification team to identify/follow/close active specifications. Actively works to protect or flip a spec where appropriate. Works with Inside Sales to track, provide local bidding opportunities, and close projects in there given market. Owns the closing process of projects within the Salesforce.com environment. Actively maintains a training regimen for Distributors on (not all inclusive): Product Knowledge, new launches, financial acumen, sales process development, and utilization of our B2B system.
* Previous multi-step sales (building materials industry not required) experience including multiple distribution channels and users.
* Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).
* Proven ability to build strong relationships.
* Thorough understanding of Distribution Sales channel.
* Familiarity with Specification Selling and Project Tracking Process
* Familiarity with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, Salesforce.
* Bachelor's degree or at least 8 years commensurate experience.
* Ability to travel at least 50% with periodic overnights.
