Job Summary:

Conducts basic and applied testing in support of the companys activities, as directed, by performing the following duties directly, or through subordinates when so directed.


Associates degree in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or related field (preferred), or five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills:

Strong skills in ability to comprehend test plans, procedures and standards. Ability to learn and communicate as an individual or as a team. Easily adapt to change. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, strong understanding of basic mathematics and algebra, typing skills.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

Conducts testing of fire suppression products in accordance with supplied procedures. This function includes assembly of test items, acquisition/procurement of test equipment, set-up of tests, running tests, data collection, tear down of test systems, and other incidental tasks.

Maintains laboratory notebook of test data and related information. Writes test reports to summarize and communicate results of test programs.

Identifies and assists in remediation of any and all safety hazards in the work place. Maintains a good safety record. Performs all elements of the job in accordance with established procedures.

Conducts fire tests and demonstrations using fire protection equipment and required PPE, as well provides backup protection during fire testing.

Assists Sr. Mechanical Technicians (Level II) and/or Lead Mechanical Technicians (Level III) with large-scale projects.

Reads and interprets test plans, drawings, procedures, and standards.
