* IMPORTANT * PLEASE READ * ONLY RESUMES IN PDF FORMAT ACCEPTED Job Title: Banquet Captain Department: Food & Beverage Reports To: Banquet Manager Job Summary: The Banquet Captain assigns duties to each team member for every event and manages them during the event. At the beginning of each shift, they inspect everyone's uniform. During an event, they maintain constant contact with the host, who is on-site, to ensure that everything runs seamlessly. Liaising with housekeeping, they ensure their facility remains clean and tidy. They maintain detailed reports for management regarding each event that is held. When needed, they may work the floor at events, pinch hitting as server or bartender. Additionally, they resolve guests' complaints and maintain the authority to refuse alcoholic beverages to intoxicated customers. Scheduling is coordinated with other banquet captains and banquet manager. Job Duties: Coordinate food service between kitchen and banquet service staff. Inspect all set up and ensure that it follows Banquet Event Order. Enforce all rules and regulations. Monitor all beverage consumption and address issues of intoxication. Adhere to basic hygiene procedures and grooming standards. Review and implement table and seating diagrams. Manage all opening and closing side work. Complete event captain's report. Complete strike list and closing inspection duties. Follow all health and safety regulations including cultural standards. Control and limits wastage. Maintain banquet cleanliness in front and back of house. Assist in pre-service and periodic training. Complete accurate bill according to BEO and obtain signature of host. Manage inventory and operating materials. Any other reasonable requests given by supervisor. Assist with all reasonable bar back duties as required. Qualifications: To successfully perform the duties of a banquet captain, a candidate must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Their customer service skills must be top notch. They must also have an extraordinary knowledge of food preparation. With regards to management skills, they have to possess the ability to inspire and motivate their team. Physically, they must be fit, as this role may require that they lift large amounts of weight as well as stand for long periods of time. Additionally, they must thrive in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as a minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a Server or Manager within the food services or hospitality industry.
