Position Purpose: Tool and Die Maker (Levels 1 through 5): Performs skilled tasks using a variety of tools to construct, modify, maintain, calibrate and repair machine shop tools, dies, jigs and fixtures. Works with engineers and tool designers to develop and modify tools. Works from blueprints, databases, specifications and diagrams. Checks work with precision instruments.

Primary Responsibilities: Revise, or repair molds, dies, cast dies, trim dies, fixtures and machines to ensure continued production.
* Must be able to make intelligent decisions for any mold repair problems that arise when supervisory people are not available.
* Must have the ability to work with extreme accuracy on any type of tool work.
* Set-up and operate all machine tools and equipment, use various hand tools and precision measuring instruments common to the trade.
* Heat treat small tool and die parts, make special cutters and mills, dress grinding wheels as needed.
* Weld and braze with Heli Arc, Oxcy Acetylene or TIG equipment, repair and replace parts in hydraulic equipment.
* Install electrical items for plastic molding and die cast tooling.
* Make ejector pins, core pins, make gate changes, K.O. bars, clean and polish mold cavities.
* Basic computer skills needed.
* Other related duties as assigned.
Secondary Responsibilities
* Assist other departments with repairs.
* Clean around work station at the end of each shift.
* Perform production machining if required.
* Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Prefer 2 year degree in Machine Tool with 5 years of tooling experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills: Prefer a minimum of 4 years previous experience.

Required Training:
In addition to the Universal requirements, this position also requires: Fork truck, Hoists, Hot Works, and LOTO Authorized,
MasterCam and ProE (Inhouse training)

Required Testing:
Complete math and mechanical tests with a passing grade.

Physical Requirements:
Standing 95% maximum to 50% minimum; Sitting 95% maximum and 50% minimum; Walking75% maximum and 30% minimum. Bimanual grasping dexterity; good vision to continuously inspect parts for visual defects; lifting 50# maximum unassisted and 6000 lbs assisted maximum lifting distance is from floor to work bench height. Twisting occasionally up to 90 degrees.

Working Environment: Hearing protection required as some noise levels above 85db.
Tool & Equipment Requirements: Safety glasses, steel toed footwear. Must provide own tool box, micrometers, caliper, indicator.
