The Aerospace Tool Builder will be responsible for the planning, development, layout, fabrication, painting of tooling, assembly and proofing of forming, routing blocks, forming / blanking dies, drill / assembly jigs, machine / assembly fixtures, plaster and plastic tooling, with emphasis on rubber lay up for intensifies, gauges and combination tools, templates and jigs to complete a development tool.
Apply a thorough knowledge of layout, development practice and procedure, machine shop practice and procedure, the use of hand, power tools, precision measuring instruments, the forming of sheet metals and a working knowledge of the structure. Apply a thorough knowledge of the characteristics, preparations and use of all types of pattern making, rubber lay up and plastic materials used in making tools. Apply a thorough knowledge of shop practice and procedures.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment; or an Associates / Technical Degree and one (1) year of experience.
*Strong understanding of shop mathematics such as algebra and trigonometry as needed.
*Experience with tool building and fabrication, mechanical assembly, and composite experience preferred.
*Operation of standard mills, surface grinders, and related machine shop equipment is a plus.
*Ability to interpret engineering drawings/specifications, blueprints, tool designs, illustrated plans, sketches, etc
*All candidates must be US Citizen or current Green Card holder
