Job Description

This position requires related experience with Shipboard Topside Design. This Senior Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and leadership for various surface ship programs including the Littoral Combat Ship Program and the Joint High Speed Vessel Program. The selected individual will be required to provide leadership and guidance to a team of engineers and subcontractors, and coordinate with multiple IPTs in various locations. An in depth knowledge and understanding of Design, Antenna Systems, Communication Systems, and Modeling and Simulation tools is required. A background in Requirements, Design, Testing, Production Install and Testing, and Program Planning and EVMS are also beneficial to this role:

Specific Responsibilities include:

- Perform topside architecture and design tasks in support of various surface ship programs.
- Perform impact assessments due to potential design or material change.
- Support topside certification including: HERO, HERF, HERP, TEMPEST
- Provide leadership and support for E3 development, test, and certification
- Provide leadership and support for Co-site analysis
- Ensure assigned tasks remain on budget and schedule
- Perform Liaison with both Industry and Navy Customers
- Provide and Presenting Status to both Management and Customer
- Provide support for new program planning
- Provide guidance and mentorship for more junior engineers

Experience:
- Experience in a Systems Engineering and Topside Design role on a Program of equivalent complexity
- Experience working as a part of or leading teams
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated commitment to achieve

The LCS Selected Ship System and the JHSV Mission System are built on a technical infrastructure based on an open architecture design. The system allows for interoperability across the fleet as any current or future system applications that comply with open architecture standards can be seamlessly integrated with our system.
BS or MS in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related scientific or technical disciplines, or equivalent Navy experience.
This position requires a Master's degree with 10 years applicable experience or a Bachelor's degree with 12 years of applicable experience. Equivalent related work experience would be considered in lieu of a degree.

Applicants selected must be eligible for access to U.S. Government classified information, and must maintain and/or obtain a Secret security clearance and/or special access. Candidate must have an active Secret security clearance within 24 months of hire. Due to the nature of work performed in our facility, U.S. Citizenship is required.
