Department Overview

This Gas Engineering position is located within the Station Engineering Section of GT&D Gas Engineering. GT&D is responsible for engineering related to the maintenance, operation and capital improvements to PG&E's gas transmission, gas gathering and underground storage systems. Station Engineering provides engineering project management and technical support to the Gas Transmission system facilities (compressor stations, gas storage fields, gas terminals and SCADA.)

Position Summary

This Transmission Specialist position will be responsible for providing technical support and construction oversight of gas transmission assets primarily in the Bay Area and Stockton areas. This position is assigned to gas storage facilities and is a technical resource to local maintenance and operations personnel. The most qualified candidates for this position shall have an understanding and technical background of gas compression and/or processing facilities with effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise for the operation and maintenance of Gas Transmission Storage assets. This includes identifying and supporting the high priority work which may include improving equipment performance and reliability, performing condition assessments, troubleshooting and resolving equipment problems.
Work with the Facility Engineer, Districts and others to optimize maintenance and operations with the resources available.
Provide support for urgent station problems, including troubleshooting, response for failures, damage assessment and condition evaluation.
Act as the advocate for the facility to ensure that projects and designs take into consideration operability and maintainability. Give input on engineering design and technical assistance during construction and commissioning.
Provide technical/mechanical expertise on driver, compressor, and auxiliary equipment overhauls, repairs and inspections. Act as outage manager when appropriate.

This position is a DOT covered classification.
Qualifications

Required:

Must have at least 10 years experience gas transmission or 10 years in gas/oil processing facilities.
This will include experience with some or all of the following equipment:

Reciprocating compressors (gas and air)
Reciprocating engines
Electric motors
Generators
Heat exchangers
Reboilders
Contactor towers
Large diameter valves
PLC and pneumatic control systems
Metering
Regulation
Industrial construction
Industrial troubleshooting


Desired:

First line supervision experience
Training experience
Knowledge of gas transmission facilities
