JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY Full/Part Time/PRN: Full-Time
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Completion of two (2) years college to include at least six (6) hours in basic science and no experience required; OR
High School graduation or GED equivalent, completion of LVN, ORT, Mortician, or MLT program, and one (1) year experience as Vocational Nurse, Operating Room Technician, Mortician, Medical Laboratory Technician, or equivalent.
Bachelor's degree in basic science such as Biology or Chemistry or Nursing, Med. Technology, Physical Therapy, or Physician Asst. certification or licensure (or eligibility) as appropriate to degree or completion of training preferred. Valid Texas Drivers License required.
Assists with providing family/next of kin opportunity to make informed decision regarding option of tissue donation.
Assists with compiling and obtaining accurate record of medical/social history and donor inspections; documents all phases of donation.
Assists in securing blood and tissue samples as required for quality control testing for serology and microbiology.
Assists and performs preparation of donor sites and procurement of all tissue grafts in accordance with policies and procedures of Transplant Service Center and standards of American Association of Tissue Banks and Eye Bank Association of America.
Assists in processing (cleans, cuts, rinces, etc.) all tissue grafts: assists in evaluating/documenting quality structure, size, shape, and sterility; ensures minimal alterations to structure.
Preforms cleaning, packaging, and sterilization of instruments and supplies according to operating room standards and Transplant Service Center policies and procedures.
Prepares final packaging of tissue for distribution.
Assists with educational programs to promote awareness of tissue donation.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be eligible to drive UTSW vehicle.
Procure and process donated human tissue.
Work variable hours, call, shift, nights, and weekends.
