GENERAL SUMMARYProvides direct care and assistance as a team member on transport under the direct supervision of a Transport Clinician or physician, implements stabilization and emergency care of the acutely ill neonate, infant, child, adolescent or adult. Educates referral staff through informal teaching as well as planned educational conferences. Demonstrates competence defined in transport paramedic responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care and service to patients from the age of birth to 21 years, and selected adults.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Certified by the State of Ohio as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.2. Successful completion of the Transport Paramedic Training Program and Preceptorship.3. Prefer a minimum of 2-3 years experience as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic with 2 years experience being in a pediatric emergency department.

For persons with 1 3 years experience, the orientation period may be up to or over 1 year.
After orientation, you must maintain a point status of 0.9 FTE for 1 year after orientation.
Completion of 1 year after orientation in a full time point status, one would then have the ability to decrease the point status to a minimum of 0.6 FTE only after meeting certain criteria which could include: 1.) Completing and passing a transport specific test 2.) To be in good standing with the department (no Work Improvements, issues with attendance, transport complications) and with the Program Managers permission.
Contingent positions will be made available to those staff that has maintained a full time FTE with the unit for 3 years or 6240 hours of transport service or more. The criteria for decreasing point status also apply to contingent positions plus the need to meet the requirement of 24 hours every month and staying current with CAMTS requirements for education, departmental changes, and transport information.
There may be times when the staff members are required to take On-Call time
4. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Demonstrates ability to work under stress using sound judgment.
6. Current Ohio Drivers License.
7. Qualify and remain qualified by Nationwide Childrens Hospital Insurance Guidelines for driving the Mobile Intensive Care Units.
8. Must maintain 24 hours of driving time per 6 week scheduling period.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Adheres to flight/safety requirements of the Transport Programs flight service providers.2. Must be able to independently lift up to 100 lbs and pull/push 300 lb isolette with assistance.3. Must be able to see, hear, stand, walk, read, and perform manual task with or without 4. accommodation; and care for oneself with little or no difficulty.5. Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with assistance of another person(s) and or equipment.6. Pass physical for Paramedic and yearly health evaluations.7. Must not exceed body weight greater than 200 pounds (flight regulations).8. Walking/standing frequently (34-66%)9. Riding/flying long distances frequently (34-66%)10. Lifting/moving occasionally (0-33%)11. Pushing/pulling occasionally (0-33%)12. Talking in person & on phone frequently (34-66%)
