JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY

This Trauma Performance Improvement nurse will use advanced skills in quality assessment to perform comprehensive quality of care and service audits. This nurse will validate care standards, data repositories, and outcome measurements related to the care of trauma patients; collect and analyze benchmarking date, focus studies and clinical indicators. Will also provide education, ensure loop closure, prepare reports, present outcomes, and participate in enterprise-wide continuous improvement projects as it relates to the Trauma Performance and Patient Safety program.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES

Minimum 3 years of trauma nursing experience (ICU, ED, Flight) required and experience in quality improvement and research preferred. Evidence of clinical expertise in the practice of trauma/critical care. Must be self-directed, present information clearly and concisely in both written and verbal form. Demonstrated ability to work positively in collaboration with all healthcare disciplines and departments. Strong computer skills, including knowledge of word processing, database management, spreadsheet development, report
writing, statistical and graphical software.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science Degree in
Nursing required, 3 years experience in trauma nursing preferred. Master of Science in Nursing or other healthcare related
Master s degree preferred. Certification in specialty preferred (TNCC). Must
hold and maintain a Kentucky Nursing License as a Registered Nurse and
be in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
