The University of Chicago is establishing Level 1 adult trauma services on its Hyde Park medical campus, supplementing the existing Level 1 pediatric trauma services and the Burn and Complex Wound Center. To support the endeavor, the University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, newly formed Section of Trauma, Critical, and Acute Care Surgery, seeks full-time Trauma and Acute Care Surgeons. Responsibilities will include patient care and related teaching. Successful applicants must qualify for a faculty appointment. Prior to the start of employment, an individual must possess the following qualifications: (1) be board certified or eligible in critical care and general surgery (or equivalent); (2) have completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in trauma/critical care; and (3) be able to obtain permanent and unrestricted Illinois licensure. Preferred qualifications include: demonstrated commitment to working in academic medicine and interest in research related to injury response, trauma care, trauma prevention, healthcare disparities, innovative approaches to urban healthcare delivery and/or other broad areas related to the mission of an academic level 1 trauma center. Compensation and academic rank are dependent upon qualifications; the position includes a generous package of fringe benefits.

Qualified applicants must apply online at the University of Chicago's Academic Career Opportunities site at http://tinyurl.com/uctrauma2016 by uploading a current curriculum vitae. Submission of a cover letter and full contact information for at least three individuals from whom letters of support will be requested is also preferred.
