JOB DESCRIPTIONI need 8 Data Center Support Technicians to travel heavily for 6-12 months based in Newtown Square PA.
This will be Data Center test (team is working on creating the networking test), phone interview and in person at Newtown Square. Will require international travel (Canada and Brazil are confirmed locations).
We need people who are willing to live out of a suitcase, work 40-50 hours per week and be on the road 5-6 days per week. This is extreme travel!! Must have experience working with server hardware and cabling in an enterprise-level data center environment. (AT TIMES DEPENDENT ON RENTAL CAR/STATE POLICIES CAR RENTALS WILL BE REIMBURSED ON THE FOLLOWING PAY PERIOD WITH RECEIPTS)
The data center technician is responsible for providing on demand support of our clients data center infrastructure. This will involve in the following functions:
Rack and stack of all server types. Installation and/or removal of mounting rails and/or mounting brackets inside hardware racks. Installation and/or removal of cable management attachments. Installation and/or removal of Ethernet, fiber, power and any other valid cables and label them with client assigned numbers on each end near the termination points. Perform systematic data removal on devices being refreshed or decommissioned per client standard procedures using client provided disk wiping tools. Removal of devices and mounting equipment from racks and package for shipment. Perform various hardware modifications and replacements, including but not limited to, NIC cards, RAM memory, hard disk drives, cooling fans. Package defective parts and provide to client per standard practice. Performing server configurations. Performing firmware, drivers and software upgrades Assist with on-site troubleshooting on devices that are down or not accessible by the client. Perform quality hardware checks for all equipment installation, including but not limited to: Check that cable labels are correct and plugged into assigned network ports on predetermined network switch. Check cable runs are neat and secure. Check that device is in correct location (unit, rack, row) Check to ensure all power cords are secure and clipped into place. Complete all checklists upon completion of work request. Ensure client data center standards are followed. Expert cabling techniques. Able to cable very dense server cabinets neatly and cleanly with or without cable management and makes use of best cabling practices. Ensure all necessary operational processes and procedures are carried out with a high level of attention to detail, expediency and on-time delivery. Assist in the creation and maintenance of network and datacenter diagrams and detailed site documentation. Perform physical inventory and audits of client assets. Perform good receipt process of all arriving equipment. Ensure proper storage of equipment as necessary. Travel on an as-needed basis both domestically and internationally to accomplish work.
Qualifications: Must pass a drug and criminal background check before starting MUST have reliable transportation and valid DL MUST be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must have excellent communication and customer services skills. Required qualifications 3+ years Technical setup and installation of solutions and infrastructure especially for network devices Basis network understanding (CCNA level) Second and Third level support (Infrastructure Services) for all build up DC network equipment. Support will also be provides for already existing DC equipment. Support / consult implementation projects Provide and improve technical documentation Enterprise-level data networking experience Experience working with servers, ideally HP and Dell LAN / WAN cabling installation experience Knowledge of peripherals and nodes Experience running and troubleshooting of the network cabling Experience with shipping and receiving of Data Center equipment Previous management or Lead experience Ability to working alone
