Job Description

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated scientist or engineer that can lead ultrasonic laboratory measurement and data analysis activities, as well as develop data acquisition software when needed in the area of ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation (NDE), medical ultrasound, acoustics, SONAR, and materials characterization.  We are interested in individuals with excellent teamwork skills; as well as the continuing desire to learn and stay informed of the latest ultrasonic NDE equipment and methods.

Responsibilities:

- Apply high resolution ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation and materials characterization methods and techniques to measure various material and microstructure properties of solids, solid-liquid suspension, emulsions, and biologic materials. 
- Develop and implement data acquisition and analysis methods, instrument control and integration
- Participate in measurements outside of the laboratory
- Understand ultrasonic wave propagation of bulk and guided waves
- Document results for inclusion in reports, proposals and presentations
- Independently carry out work with initiative and collaboration
- Handle multiple priorities

Position Requirements:

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Physics or related area with zero (0) to two (2) years of professional experience in laboratory or research environments, or current graduate student.
+ Laboratory measurement and documentation skills
+ Proficiency in at least one data analysis software including, Labview, Matlab, C/C++, FORTRAN, Mathematica, Excel, Inspectionware
+ Excellent writing and verbal communication

Position Preferences:

Masters Degree in Engineering, Physics or related area with no professional experience required.
