JOB DUTIES:

Ability to work with minimum supervision to produce diagnostic images of the human anatomy utilizing both stationary and portable ultrasound equipment. Record patient images via appropriate archival media, transfer images as needed. Review clinical information regarding patient along with images with the Radiologist. Print images onto appropriate media. Provide permanent data of procedures as required or requested by the Radiologist. Maintain departmental standards related to Quality Assurance controls. Explain to fellows, residents, and new employee the methods of scanning and equipment operations when directed. Participate in departmental In-Service training programs. Practice sterile techniques maintain aseptic conditions and use universal precautions at all times. Perform first aid on patients until further assistance can be obtained to maintain patient s health. Float between all UCLA Health System Radiology locations (MLK, 100 Medical Plaza, 200 Medical Plaza, RRMC, SMUCLA, SMIR clinic, SM Women s Center, and Manhattan Beach Radiology, thousand Oaks, Porter Ranch, Redondo Beach, Calabasas, and any additional centers). Adhere to on-call, holiday, and weekend schedules as prepared by the manager. Participate in rotating shifts as required. Exercise strict patient confidentiality. Monitor patient s comfort while in the ultrasound department. Demonstrate a professional attitude by being courteous towards patients, co-workers, and physicians. Review Radiology request for appropriateness. Coordinate exams with other services as needed. Coordinate transfer of patient to the observation area as needed. Communicate with Nursing units pertinent patient information. Perform various types of ultrasound exams according to departmental protocol. Follow departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Maintain accurate up-to-date records of procedures performed. Ensure Radiology requisitions are properly completed. Initiate proper requests for required maintenance or repair of equipment. Inspect all devices for damage and ensure they are operating within accepted parameters. Maintain accurate record of all supplies used and initiate orders to maintain supply par levels. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion. Comply with Medical Center health and infection control policies. Comply with personnel standards in employee and technologist handbooks. Adhere to departmental attendance and tardiness policies. Must maintain Active RDMS certification in one specialty, i.e. Abdomen or OB-GYN. Must be a Graduate of CAAHAP Sonography program is required. ARDMS Required. Must have a valid CPR.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Be proficient in abdomen and OBGYN Sonographic anatomy and pathology. Knowledge of hemodynamic of the vascular system with basic knowledge of venous anatomy. Must be ARDMS certified and maintain at least one specialty RDMS license, i.e. Abdomen or OB-GYN and/or vascular. Must maintain a current CPR certification. Skill in listening and comprehending information received in person or over the phone. Ability to perform all physical requirements pertaining to the transport of patients in beds, gurneys and wheelchairs. Skill in reading and writing in standard English text and be able to respond to calls and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members. Ability to operate PACS and RIS and other image / data recording systems. Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to communicate with patients and staff. Ability to understand medical and Sonographic terminology. Ability to interpret clinical data and adjust technical factors to produce optimal images. Ability to work as part of a team in a medical setting. Ability to work under stressful conditions with frequent interruptions. Ability to display superior customer service.
