GENERAL SUMMARY
The Unit Coordinator is responsible for performing secretarial, environmental and basic supportive care under the direction and supervision of a Staff RN. Perform registration, enter patient information accurately, verify insurance information, copy insurance card, prepare chart and paperwork, obtain or distribute history form. Prepare discharge
paperwork, supplies, and schedules appointments. Maintain the patients charts and update medical summary and medication sheets. Ensure general consents are properly filled out and signed. Operate communication systems including; computer terminal, telephone, paging system, two-way radio, and update the information as required on the unit. Coordinate unit communications and the processes related to patient care, secretarial and environmental activities on the unit. Be alert to documents at the desk that need to be shredded and empty all recycle bins into SHRED-IT bins daily. Maintain unit supply of computer down forms and implement the down time procedure for the staff. Maintain unit statistics. In addition may be required to: Be able to operate Nationwide Children s Internet system to facilitate staff that needs policies and procedures and other intranet documents printed. Organize and stock paperwork and supplies; maintain unit files. Maintain a clean, safe patient care, and unit environment, which may include unit specific duties such as cleaning unit refrigerators, microwaves and etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School graduate or equivalent.
2. Perform basic math calculations, (add, subtract, multiply and divide) and successfully pass Unit Coordinator pre-test and have satisfactory data entry skills.
3. Successful completion of an approved unit coordinator/clerk course or demonstration of equivalent competence.
4. Basic computer and data entry skills required.
5. Excellent Customer Service Skills.
6. Previous health care experience preferred.
7. Possess good verbal and writ Call-in / Contingent Rotating Shifts
