Department Description

The Adult Inpatient Hematology/Blood and Marrow Transplant units is rapidly expanding. The current units will increase from 53 to 66 beds on 2 newly constructed state-of-the-art 33-bed units. This is a prime opportunity to join the highly-trained team of nurses who provide multiple treatment modalities, such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, peripheral blood/umbilical cord stem cell/bone marrow transplants and supportive care to patients throughout the various stages of their treatment and recovery. You also have the opportunity to care for and support patients who are participating in ground-breaking clinical research.

Job Summary

* Administratively responsible for ensuring the quality of patient care

* Serves as a role model for professional nursing practice

* Maintains twenty-four hour line management and responsibility for the administration of personnel, fiscal and material resources

* Responsible for maintaining the knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of stated behaviors

This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations as needed.

Work Environment

* Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture.

* Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility.

* Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows.

* Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments.

* Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft.

Required Qualifications

* Minimum 3 years of progressive nursing leadership/management experience in an acute care medical center with a focus in Heme/Onc/BMT/adult medicine

* Bachelor s degree in Nursing

* Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California

* Active American Heart Association CPR certification

* Demonstrated leadership/management skills and excellent interpersonal relationship skills

* Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills

* This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

* Master of Science degree in Nursing

* Previous administrative nursing and/or clinical experience in an academic medical center

* Specialty Certification (CENP or NE BC)

Licensure/Certification

* Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California

* Active American Heart Association CPR certification
