Unix Linux Systems Administrator - ReqCode 25727BR

Job Description: The client's New Campus East (NCE) Active IT Program was established to provide the infrastructure services required to build out and maintain the NCE facilities. Unix/Linux Administrator expertise is needed to support the Enterprise Management Team.

Duties/Skills:
- Maintain and administer the UNIX/Linux environment used to support the team at NCE.
- Must be familiar with an environment consisting of Linux on x86 platform and Sun Solaris on the SPARC platform.
- Perform application and OS vendor patches and updates on Sun Solaris and RedHat Linux machines. Specific focus on ArcSight vendor products.
- Work within and support virtualization using VMWare, Logical Domains and Zones.
- Working knowledge of the Sun T-Series platforms (Sun Blades, T5220, T6320, T6340) and Sun M-Series platforms (M3000, M4000, M5000) desired.
- Working knowledge of running and configuring Linux in a VMWare virtualized environment.
- Support cross platform and application performance troubleshooting
- Configure and troubleshoot ZFS filesystems and snapshots.
- Working knowledge of Cross Domain Solutions and design.
- Understanding of underlying TCP and UDP protocols and how these would apply to an environment using a one way transfer.
- Working knowledge of fibre channel SAN connectivity.
- Familiar with security and accreditation process.
- Respond to escalated requests for technical assistance
- Rapidly provide fix actions
- Apply vendor patches to keep products up-to-date and meet security requirements
- Create shell and perl scripts to facilitate automated tasks
- Implement changes required to support O&S methodologies and processes
- Perform and support integration testing as required
- Work with other NGA ISPs to support areas of common interest
- Develop and maintain operating procedures for network tools
- Work with vendors to maintain products, and plan for future upgrade

Required Skills:
- MUST have active TS/SCI clearance (no exceptions)
- Knowledge and experience administering Solaris UNIX, Redhat Linux, MS Windows 2003/2008 EE
- Experience applying and managing Unix/Linux/Windows patches
- Experience performing system backups, maintaining archives, and data recovery
- Strong background in Solaris UNIX and RedHat Linux; including user account management, hardware and software installation and implementation, configuration management, and performance management.

Desired Skills:
- Experience with ArcSight collectors, loggers, and managers
- Sun Certified
- RedHat certified
Required Education (including Major): Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline. 6+ years of applicable experience.
