Summary:







A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the urology research laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital. Our lab seeks to investigate the role of androgenic to estrogenic switch in prostate growth in the absence of steroid 5-alpha reductase type 2. The fellow will investigate alternate pathways which maintain prostatic homeostasis when androgenic pathways are blocked. He/she will be working under the supervision of Dr. Aria F Olumi.







The fellow will work with a team in the urology department and will have opportunities to collaborate on multidisciplinary research projects. Candidates will have ample opportunities to acquire and develop new skills, work closely with the PI and collaborators, and communicate results to the scientific community through conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications while working in a supportive, highly collaborative, and energetic environment. State-of-the-art facilities are available within an exceptionally energetic research setting.







Job Duties:



Under the direction of the principal investigator, the applicant will independently carry out activities performing laboratory research. Duties include:







Handle research projects through experimental design, conduct of experiments, and analysis of data



Work closely within the group and with outside collaborators



Maintain close communications with the PI regarding progress



Write, edit, and submit manuscripts/abstracts detailing the results of the project



Prepare first author manuscripts

* Analyze, interpret and present multivariate BPH data using advanced existing statistical methods and co-author peer reviewed papers

* Participate in study design, grant writing , data management and archiving

*

* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:







A Ph.D. and/or M.D. with relevant experience in molecular and cell biology

* Highly motivated and independent, with the ability to work in a dynamic team environment

*



Exceptional organizational skills and excellent attention to detail



ability to work independently and with collaborators



Strong oral and written communications skills, good interpersonal skills
