Job Description

ASAP Need for a Part time -
User Experience Designer -
Start date - ASAP. Estimated end date - June 30

Work site location - On site at least 1/2 time worked rest can be telecommute

User Experience Designer must be able to:

Produce wire frames, concept videos/animations, other exemplars with sufficient detail for client researchers to understand and critique and for programmers and graphic artists to implement.;

Develop and direct user testing for feedback into the design and development process as well as to support the publication of research results.;

Participate in Agile Programming methodologies of Test-Driven Development and very short build/release cycles with the programmers.;

Experience with Drupal and/or WordPress, from understanding concepts and the plethora of available customization tools to designing new modules from scratch.;

Perform work of moderate complexity, handling most activities individually or collaborating with developers, designers and client researchers.;

Stay informed of new developments and technologies by reading journals and other pertinent publications.

Maintain contact with vendors, and participate in professional organizations, meetings and seminars.;

Suggest new avenues for research.

Recognize opportunities to adapt results for novel applications.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Interactive Design, HCI, Product Design or User Experience Design.;

Minimum 3 to 5 years design experience and strong technical knowledge of Web applications and programming languages; enhanced publication, and usability engineering.;

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, OmniGraffle or Visio.;


Familiarity with modern web elements (HTML5, AJAX, CSS3, Web services).;

Significant HTML and CSS experience.

The Designer must exhibit:

Excellent communication skills especially visual communication.;

Expertise in designing usuable, communicative applications.;

Responsive & flexible with strong attention to detail.;

Track record of delivering high quality products - commercial, personal, educational, and/or open-source.;

Solid problem-solving and debugging skills.
