NetApp User Experience (UX) Designer works as part of a team that supports and enhances NetApp's world-wide business processes, systems and customer/user experience. The ideal candidate will utilize strong user experience competencies and functional business expertise
to identify, evaluate and develop user experiences that optimize design while keeping in balance with technology capabilities, timelines and budget. To do this successfully this person will work closely with cross-function teams to understand business needs, and IT development to provide solutions. Solving business process requirements with UX design options and communicating their benefits and trade-offs to stakeholders and team members are essential to your success in this role. Project and task management skills and a customer service orientation are crucial to this role.
User Experience and Business Essential Functions:
User Experience (UX) Designer expertise will primarily be on our commerce platform for configuration, quoting and ordering of NetApp products, however, they also may work with Sales, Finance, Marketing and other functional areas as required.
User Experience and Business Functional Knowledge:
Collaborate with business users, product configuration managers, process architects, and IT to define processes and user experiences that meet business needs
Ensure processes and user experiences are scalable and flexible to meet future business need
Design user experiences that balance technical capabilities, timelines and budgets
Leverage, maintain and communicated new and existing design patterns
Ensure that proposed user experience designs and changes represent the best overall fit for the business process, architecture and user experience models
Develop and define IT requirements to support process and system changes
Co-lead design sessions to identify gaps and opportunities.
Coordinate with IT development teams to implement desired user experience and resolve issues
Prepare and execute testing plans to ensure high quality results
Monitor and drive resolution of issues.
Document and communicate status updates to team members and Management
Estimate resource requirements
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, task and project management, and organizational skills
Experience working with IT development staff on complex projects
Knowledge and experience with common software development practices and the ability to grasp complex systems and speak about user work flow with developers
Extensive experience with user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies
Expertise with common design tools and systems like Adobe Creative Suite to create and communicate designs
Proficiency with rapid prototyping techniques and software such as Axure, Visio, Balsamiq, Fireworks
Experience in conducting usability tests both in-house and remotely using usability software to collect metrics
Strong ability to communicate design rationale and ideas both verbally and visually
Strong design skills and attention to detail
Must have a design portfolio for review
Strong business acumen
The resourcefulness to think creatively, improve and innovate through collaboration and leadership
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other business systems analysts and cross functional peers to support deadlines.
Ability to evaluate, define and prioritize projects/work assignments.
Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
Education and Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience is required; 6 to 10 years of experience is preferred
A Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree required; Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Information Technology, or related technical field is desirable. Masters preferred
Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks
