JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY Job Description:
Purpose Of Position Locate water mains and services. Locate sewer mains and services for Contractors, Citizens, and City crews for compliance with state laws and protection of public health and safety. Essential Functions Locate Water and Sewer mains and services for contractors.Respond to all emergency requests to locate Sewer and Water mains.Assist crews when needed to locate Water and Sewer mains.Assist employees of City in field when needed.Locate Sewer and Water services for plumbers.Must be able to read and interpret construction plans and utility plat maps.Must be able to read Plat Books and mapping of City.Must have ability and knowledge to use all types of locators.Must have ability to identify types of piping.Must know City streets and Water and Sewer Systems.Must have ability to use hand tools.Must understand computer work-order systems, and Microsoft Office programs.Must be able to use GPS with asset management software.Must be able to use shovel, pick, and sledgehammer.Must be able to safely drive a ton pickup.Must be able to work alone and unsupervised.Must be able to communicate using a two-way radio; to understand oral and written instructions; to effectively communicate with customers, contractors, local and out-of-town plumbers, and other City employees.Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, twist, turn, crouch, and kneel.Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push and pull 100-lbs.Must be able to walk, sit, and stand up to 3-hrs per day.Must have good sight and hearing.Must be able to tolerate extreme changes in weather. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience - High School Diploma or GED required, plus a minimum of two (2) years' experience in repair/construction or locating of water or sewer mains. Must be able to safely utilize all tools in the performance of duties. Must possess a valid Texas Class \\"C\\" Driver's License, with clear driving record. Must have dependable transportation and telephone. Must have TCEQ Class \\"C\\" Water Distribution License or have the ability to obtain within one (1) year. A Class \\"B\\" Water Distribution License and Type II Waste Water Collection License from TCEQ are preferred. A valid Class \\"B\\" CDL is preferred. May be called out for emergency locates after hours, weekends, and holidays. The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in glace or each year of collegerequired in the job description, Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place ofan Associate's Norge, and eight years of relevant experience will he considered in place of aBachelor's Degree, Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree.
