Job Summary
Reports to the Vice President, Chief Operating Officer at Sinai-Grace Hospital (SGH) and oversees the planning and start-up of new practices and competitive management of established ambulatory practices associated with SGH.In conjunction with the Senior Vice President/President SGH and COO and in cooperation with Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Medical Group and others in the DMC system, formulates strategy, implements strategic plans and ensures attainment of annual operating goals/objectives consistent with the strategic direction, objectives and policies established by the DMC.Identifies opportunities for revenue enhancement and for increasing patient base, and provides necessary information to SGH senior leadership and marketing/communications on plans that address marketing and promotional activities for SGH affiliated ambulatory practices.Establishes new ambulatory care practices to support SGH in attaining growth and market share.Works directly with all physicians, office managers and practice managers and provides leadership in the effective integration of medical, clinical, physician support and patient services for all SGH affiliated ambulatory practices.Works closely with marketing and DMC Medical Group to build practice recognition and referrals. Develops and monitors budgets for all Ambulatory Operations functions; analyzes cost containment and budget issues. Monitors the reporting of financial information and recommends procedural changes, as needed. Develops computerized applications for tracking data related to ambulatory patient care.Develops detailed, comprehensive statistical and administrative reports in order to analyze existing programs and services.Responsible for organizing and implementing common systems and/or programs across the practices, including, but not limited to facilities planning and maintenance, information systems, policies and procedures for regulatory compliance, patient satisfaction, service availability and employee in-service/education.Participates in the development of a physician performance assessment tool and establishes performance criteria.Coordinates physician credentialing activities in collaboration with DMC.Coordinates the credentialing process for provider participation with insurance plans as applicable.Maintains relationships with third party providers to maintain patient base and referral patterns.Functions as an in-house consultant for physician practice optimization.Establishes office based work flows which encourage patient maintenance.Works to accomplish primary care goals in patient centered medical home models for primary are practices.Coordinates inpatient and outpatient experience to maximize DMC goals for ACO, PHO and CMS goals required by DMC.Develops, monitors and revises functional processes. Develops and/or revises organizational structure for area(s) or responsibility.Initiates and approves personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc.Ensures the timely completion of performance appraisals. Develops short to long-range goals and measures and oversees assessment of goal attainment. Develops, seeks approval of, monitors and ensures compliance with budget for area(s) of responsibility.Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, Joint Commission requirements and DMC policies.As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations.Ensures hospital departments achieve DMC and regulatory objectives for diversity of their suppliers.Minimum Requirements
1. Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
2. Seven years of progressively more responsible experience in administrative capacities including a minimum of three years experience in ambulatory operations to include managing personnel, developing growth strategies/programs, budgeting, and experience with insurers and reporting systems. Work experience in a rapidly growing community with a diverse population/medical staff desirable.
3. Practice Management Certification or eligibility for certification within 6 months of hire.
4. Continuing education in American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and community involvement strongly preferred.
5. Clinical background specifically in the areas of nursing, imaging, lab and outpatient services strongly preferred.
6. Performance Improvement/Quality Assurance data analysis experience preferred.
