Job Description

Position Type: Full Time

The CTO is responsible for the overall strategic technical vision of NaviSite. Thieve, technology is a critical member of the executive team responsible for the delivery of industry-leading products, solutions and platforms for our customers and externally representing NaviSite s thought leadership with the vendor, analyst, and technology communities.

Lead, mentor and grow software development and infrastructure talent across Product Development, Platform Engineering, Advanced Client Engineering, Security & Compliance and System & Tools to deliver industry leading service offerings. Lead technology team to operationalize NaviSite Strategy into specific objectives, products and services.
Demonstrate thought leadership and interact with the vendor, analyst and general technology community through blogs, social media, presentations, conferences and client meetings. Increase the visibility of NaviSite and its products through positive interactions and compelling perspectives.
Design and build complex managed solutions leveraging NaviSite developed platforms and external hyper scale cloud solutions to help NaviSite clients achieve their technology-related goals. Anticipate technology capability, performance and scaling challenges and develop proactive solutions to mitigate them prior to customer impact.

Own the NaviSite Platform from a Capacity, Manageability and Scalability Perspective. Design for non-disruptive maintenance and high levels of automation & orchestration to increase manageability and allow the technical teams to focus on value-added engineering work as opposed to maintenance activities. Plan and instrument the platform for known growth paths.

Drive technology solution delivery using a proven and scalable iterative execution process. Work closely with product management to transform requirements and user stories into technical specifications and solution designs. Lead team to deliver against these solutions in a timely manner.

Proactively design for the Security and Compliance of the NaviSite Solutions. Establish effective key preventative, detective and audit controls and architect the solution to deliver against these controls and ensure the security and integrity of the NaviSite technology environment. Stay up to date on major threats and security trends to protect NaviSite and our client s assets.

Design and implement an effective organizational structure that supports maximum communications and effective execution of technology initiatives. Work closely with client-facing groups to transform priorities and requirements into plans that optimize resources and deliver to expectations.

Establish key metrics around platform availability and performance, problem resolution and design platform and organization to deliver against these objectives.
Create a collaborative environment shared ownership and commitment around product development and platform goals. Work with the rest of the executive team to develop and communicate goals throughout organization.
Formally manage the strategy, budget and goals of the Engineering Organization and balance priorities to deliver against these. Develop strong vendor relationships to ensure cost effective technology acquisition and maintenance for the company.

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to quickly adjust to an established technical organization gain respect, and methodically optimize the practices to make them more robust and effective
Ability to set the vision and strategy for technology and operations and to produce an effective roadmap
Comfortable with technology scale and associated architectural challenges, and experience proactively addressing them
Demonstrated leadership ability
Proven experience in Technology planning, organization, and development
Excellent understanding of project management principles
In-depth knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and compliance procedures such as ISO 27001, SSAE 16, Sarbanes Oxley, PCI, and HIPPA as they relate to technology deployment
Extremely strong understanding of Infrastructure and Application Architectures based upon standard design patterns, and open system standards
Understanding of Software Defined Networks, Hyperconverged Infrastructure, Orchestration as well as Service Oriented and Message based architectures
Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures Demonstrated ability to understand an organizations goals and objectives and managing technology staff to achieving these in an objective manner
Ability to influence and incorporate technology into Business Strategy.
Strong understanding of ITIL processes and ability to effectively build highly available and high-performance systems
Strong understanding of Agile and Iterative Development Processes. Applications developed and supported should exceed millions of transactions per week

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field. Master s degree in Business or Computer Science preferred.

Related Work Experience
15+ years of experience managing and/or directing a major Technology Organization
7-10 years of experience working in the Service Provider and high-tech industries. Experience working in Fortune 500, mid-sized enterprises and start-up environments. Past experience as a Cloud CTO and global enterprise level CIO a plus
5-10 years of experience in strategic planning and execution
7-10 years of experience designing multi-tenant Cloud and SAAS-based solutions and designing in security, scalability and automation to ensure for the effective operations of the environment
5-7 years of experience leading Application Development Organizations

Office environment
30-40% travel required
