We seek a Vice President of Workforce Initiatives to lead our strategic initiatives focused on workforce issues in aging services, working to advance one of LeadingAge s highest priorities.

Under the direction of our President & CEO and our Senior Vice President of Research, the Vice President will be responsible for coordinating a diverse set of activities with states, members and other LeadingAge staff. He/she will provide strategic direction, identify priorities, measure results, establish and manage strategic partnerships. The Vice President will oversee implementation and serve as a primary spokesperson on these issues, including educating members; relaying timely information; and representing LeadingAge among other workforce related organizations, coalitions and individuals.

The position requires a college degree in gerontology, labor relations, business, public policy or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and a minimum of 10 years of management experience in a leadership capacity. A graduate degree is preferred. Prior experience in aging is also preferred.

Successful candidate must have a deep knowledge of workforce issues in the field of aging services, with particular understanding of the concerns of providers; familiarity with policy options to advance workforce solutions; and, excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills, including the ability to foster cooperation and maintain effective relationships with members, state association executives, staff and other key leaders and stakeholders.

Other requirements include strong leadership, customer service, negotiation and coalition-building skills. Must have demonstrated use of excellent judgement, integrity and creative problem solving; must be a team player with ability to manage multiple projects in a timely and efficient manner, working across departments. Must have prior experience being accountable to goals, including setting milestones and reporting outcomes. As needed, must be able to engage in local and in overnight travel.
