POSITION SUMMARY:



Meet, greet and welcome customers to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center (MBRCC), West Virginia University Hospitals (WVUH), Physician Office Center (POC), Emergency Department and possibly off-site clinics. Park and retrieve patient automobiles or directs self-parking to the appropriate space in the parking lot by performing the following duties.



























MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.

Valid Driver s License.

EXPERIENCE:

1.

Three years driving experience.





PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.

High School Diploma or Equivalent.



CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Assists in proper traffic flow into and out of the assigned area.

2.

Assists patients out of their vehicles and helps place them into wheelchairs if necessary utilizing safe patient handling equipment per policy and procedure.

3.

Places numbered tag on windshield of automobile to be parked and hands customer similar tag to be used later in locating parked automobile.

4.

Records time and drives automobile to parking space, or directs customers to a parking space for customer s use.

5.

Properly secures parked vehicles by locking doors, windows, and setting the parking brake.

6.

Properly logs the flow of Valet parked vehicles.

7.

Properly tags all patient care keys and files keys in the valet closet (type of car, license number, color of car, space number, valet initials, noticeable damage on vehicle).

8.

Takes numbered tag from customer, locates automobile, and delivers it to customer, or directs Customer to location of parked automobile.

9.

Locates and maintains adequate supply of wheelchairs for use at the front entrance of the designated sites..





PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear in order to communicate with patients regarding the valet services.

2.

The employee may be required to lift, move, stoop, reach, and carrying of materials and equipment weighing 40+lbs in order to assist patients out of their vehicles and into wheelchairs.

3.

Continuous standing and walking from the valet closet to parking lot area is required in order to park and retrieve vehicles.

4.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health recommends minimizing the need for employees to manually lift patients, and limit safe patient handling to 35 pounds. All transfers, lifts and re-positioning will be completed utilizing the lift equipment and/or other patient handling aids as indicated by the patient s profile and appropriate algorithms.
