JOB DESCRIPTION

The Value Stream Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of a section (or sections) of the total plant by establishing goals and objectives for the business, and managing the assets assigned to that value stream (people and equipment). The position has responsibility for achieving or exceeding the expected performance levels in the areas of employee safety, customer satisfaction, quality performance, labor productivity, financial performance, and work ethic and moral. The position is also part of the plant's senior management team, and as such required to work with the other senior managers to determine, implement and enforce plant rules and policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures and encourages a safe working environment by promoting safety and environmental compliance with all plant, state and federal rules and procedures.

Supervises and manages a staff of supervisors, team leaders, and support staff by establishing goals and objectives, and determining actions that support the plant's overall objectives. Provide leadership, vision and direction; select, train, teach, coach, develop, motivate and manage the performance of staff; Does periodic performance reviews with all salaried employees under their supervision, and has responsibility for their training and professional development.

Ownership of Value Stream including cost analysis and opportunities, product line margin, customer expectations and manufacturing productivity; Manage manufacturing capacity and flexibility to meet volume demand; identify constraints and generate solutions

Understands and works within the current plant guidelines and policies including a working knowledge of the labor agreement with the local union (if applicable).
*

Acts as the leader and Company representative to set the example for their area of responsibility with regard to all performance related activities.
*

Understands their customer's requirements and determines how to deploy and manage people, equipment, and tooling to meet those requirements and support the plant objectives.
*

Embrace, teach and live "Lean" operating methodology to achieve customer satisfaction and operating efficiency; develop operating methods and systems that continuously reduce labor, material, and overhead costs (i.e.SMED, VSM, waste elimination) and increase employee involvement
*

Has ultimate responsibility for communication throughout the value stream including the hourly work force, the salaried work force, suppliers, customers, and where necessary the community.

Has responsibility to see that all business dealings of the value stream are carried out in accordance with all plant, corporate, local, state, and federal laws and requirements.
*

Foster continuing education for all employees through training programs that improve individual and team skills and performance; enhance job satisfaction and quality of work life through employee growth and advancement within the company.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

*

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7-10years of manufacturing (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience) with firsthand experience in at least three (3) of the following areas: hourly supervision, salaried supervision, quality management/engineering, manufacturing engineering, maintenance management, human relations management, financial management, labor contract negotiations, or operations management.

Graduate of LEAN and/or SCIL training, or ability to do so within first 12months of employment
*

People Development skills - How to grow our teams (teach, coach monitor accordingly
*

Ability to appropriately escalate any deviations/ potential deviations from the plan
*

Strong communication skills at all levels within organization
*

Ability to create/grow the culture of CI - Facilitate Improvements while teaching the tools
*

Problem Solving skills -- 5Y, Fishbone, A3, etc..
*

Organizational skills - production, projects, people, etc..
*

Check/ Act on Std. Work - Develop and sustain LSW to support this
*

Proven experience in building, leading and motivating teams
*

Self-directed with effective time management skills, strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work within a global growing organization.

Must have strong oral and written English communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, cost management skills, and innovative problem solving skills.
*

Experience with MS Office software
*

Understanding of MRP systems
*

Experience implementing lean in a manufacturing environment
*

Set expectations, coach, recognize and provide constructive feedback as appropriate to EI team i.e. Proven experience in leading teams

Proven experience as an on-the-job trainer
