Job Description

Vice President, Consumer Marketing
An award-winning Chicago children's media company is searching for a Vice President of Consumer Marketing (VPCM).
The VPCM will be responsible for driving the company's rapid sales growth in electronic content (mobile apps, electronic books, digital magazines, microsites) as well as its traditional magazine and book publishing. The VPCM is responsible for the overall planning, oversight, and analysis of the company's consumer marketing efforts, including daily management and training of the marketing staff.

Expected to grow both the core business and aggressively pursue new sources of customers and revenue for the company's media products.
Expected to have deep and cutting-edge knowledge of electronic marketing techniques, including web, email, search, ppc, affiliate, and social media marketing
Expected to also have a solid knowledge and experience with traditional direct mail marketing techniques, including catalog/direct mail/package insert marketing, list management/brokerage
Key member of the management team, representing the consumer perspective in all strategic planning and product development

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and negotiator, able to work effectively across functions. He or she should be a collegial manager, providing strong leadership and fostering an environment of energy and fun for the marketing team. The ideal candidate will also thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment dedicated to development and rapid growth.
Management experience and a deep knowledge of both electronic and traditional direct marketing techniques are required. Track record of performance excellence meeting targets and objectives also necessary, as well as strong analytical, planning, forecasting, and budgeting/financial skills. Experience with marketing children's products to parents and grandparents, or marketing media products, a strong plus.
