ABOUT THE POSITION:
FRUKT, the music & entertainment arm of Octagon, seeks a Vice President to oversee the development and management of music related strategy and programming across our current and new entertainment consulting clients. This person will dual report into the SVP, FRUKT and to the CRLs leading accounts where music expertise is required. Account responsibilities will include but will not be limited to clients in the telecommunications, insurance, banking, and other industries. The Vice President will be responsible for managing client relationships from a music perspective, building and maintaining the necessary alliances within the music industry, and will have oversight over agency team members working on music-related programs for clients. The ideal candidate will have an extensive music industry background and experience building music strategy and programs for brands, including an comprehensive knowledge of music industry trends (Hispanic music experience a plus), new technologies impacting the entertainment industry, rights, licensing, artist relations and talent alignment. Lastly, supervising, managing and mentoring a team falls under this persons purview.
Role & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development and execution of clients music entertainment marketing strategy and go-to-market plans
Support creative ideation and development of customized and authentic brand integrations
Provide industry and market intelligence and competitive trends including technological impact on the business model, content creation, and distribution of music.
Make relevant industry introductions
Lead property/partner identification
Lead contract negotiations providing industry and cost analysis information and insights
Manage senior-level partner relationships
Provides platform POVs and consultation across all existing and potential partners
Expertise in music industry trends, rights, licensing, artist relations, label management
Oversee quality control across all properties/partners, activation, content, and outputs
Liaise with relevant internal client divisions and personnel
Work collaboratively with clients agency partners
Manage and develop agency staff responsible for music marketing with clients
Lead business development for the agency in the music space
Bachelors degree with 10-15 years professional experience in music and the industry contacts to prove it (expertise or familiarity within Hispanic music market a plus but not a prerequisite)
Ability to think and act strategically on behalf of our company, our client and artists
Multiple years of experience or knowledge of:
- Managing and supervising artist relations
- Rights management/IP knowledge of requisite music content and assets
- Licensing across master recordings and publishing rights
- Developing music strategy and marketing campaigns for brands
- Familiarity with technological innovations and cutting edge developments with music in the social, digital, and mobile space
Prior experience establishing and successfully building a relationship with clients
Understanding of and insights in label management
Experience with artist tours, and venue management
Ability to multitask, managing multiple programs simultaneously
Proven success in managing, mentoring, leading and motivating a team is required
Ability to work cross-functionally within the Clients company and other agency partners
Ability to identify and evaluate new opportunities for growth
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
