SUMMARY: Primary responsibilities include providing effective thought leadership, business intelligence and actionable insights by interacting with and advising buyers about their categories. In addition to space management work, this position will also be responsible for using Wal-Mart's decision support system (Retail Link) to collect relevant sales data for analysis. This position has the responsibility of generating, disseminating and interpreting various Sales and Syndicated data reports with the ability to critique weekly sales activity, explain and highlight exceptions/opportunities for the customer. The position is a multi-dimensional position that requires the ability to respond to regular and ad hoc requests with speed and accuracy. This position also needs to be able to track and quantify the effects from changes in product form, packaging, weight, distribution and price (as well as the effects from changes/differences in other variables-seasonality, and region). While this position supports the Category Advisor Manager and will be part of a broader team, this individual must also have the ability to work independently. The ability to multi-task, problem solve, quantify/analyze data and to communicate clearly will be critical for success and future development.

Requirements:
Education: Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Experience: 5+ years of work experience preferred. Previous Category Management work experience is a plus. Technical skills need to be above average, and previous IT/computer programming experience can be very helpful since the position needs to be able to manipulate and manage a large amount of data. Since this position will be responsible for creating and managing Wal-Mart store modular (case sets), previous experience using ProSpace (or other space management software) is a plus.

Computer Skills: Requires advanced computer skills with an emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word. Must be highly skilled in building and maintaining databases and various Excel reports.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, organization and presentation skills required.

Special Skills: Requires previous Retail Link experience and other decision support systems. Previous experience with, syndicated data sources (IRI/Nielsen), Spectra, Consumer/Channel Facts, Account Shopper Profiler, Panel Data is also beneficial.
