OVERVIEW:

The Taste of Smithfield, a division of Smithfield Foods, is currently looking to fill one PT Server position in it's casual dining establishment located on Main Street in Smithfield, Virginia. Wait Staff will be responsible for preparing tables for meals; advising on menu choices; taking customer orders; serving drinks & food; cleaning up before, after and during servings; and processing payment transactions.



Wait staff will follow all food safety and food hygiene guidelines in providing an excellent dining experience to patrons.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Greet, seat and present menus to customers.

* Communicate customer orders to kitchen staff; ensure orders are assembled properly prior to delivery and verify customer satisfaction.

* Refill customer drink orders throughout meal.

* Observe principles of safe food handling and serivce. Follow all relevant health department rules and regulations.

* Process payments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Certifications: High school or equivalent GED; previous retail or food service experience.



Behavioral Competencies: "People" person, enjoy food & drink; high standards of personal hygiene; ability to remain calm under pressure.



Technical Competencies: Knowledge & awareness of health and safety issues, ability to operate a POS reister system including processing credit card and cash transactions.



Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent customer service skills; knowledge of culinary terminology.





SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift, carry, deliver and serve from trays weighing up to 50 lbs. throughout assigned shifts; responsible for taking out trash.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Kitchen can be hot, humid, noisy, busy at key meal times; must be able to work as scheduled, working various schedules and shifts throughout normal business hours.
