We have a unique opportunity for Staff Psychiatrists at the California State Prison, Sacramento in Folsom, CA. We are conveniently located halfway between the San Francisco Bay Area and Lake Tahoe. The Sacramento region is home to great entertainment like the Crocker Art Museum, The Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, The Sacramento Kings, as well as the minor league baseball champions, The River Cats. It's also a short drive to several wine appellations in Lodi, Napa and Amador.

About This Opportunity
Under general direction, in a State correctional facility or outpatient clinic in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, or where Department of Mental Health is used as a contractor to provide diagnostic and treatment services, a Staff Psychiatrist performs psychiatric work or, in a review, evaluation, or consultative capacity; and other related work.

Starting Salary:

Salary for Adult Institutions (except the Third Day Visiting Program), Division of Adult Parole Operation, Division of Juvenile Justice and Division of Correctional Health Services Only

Range P: $19,052.00/mo.
Range Q: $19,554.00/mo.

(Range Q: Must possess a valid certificate in psychiatry issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.)

Additional Bonuses are offered as indicated below (as of January 1, 2007)

A pay differential of 3 percent of the base pay will apply to positions in the Division of Correctional Health Care Services, headquarters mental health management and policy development.

There is a $5,000 cash bonus after six months and an additional $5,000 after 24 months (for new hires outside State service).

(This position participates in the California Public Employees Safety Retirement System and is exempt from paying into the Federal Social Security System.)
