Northside Hospital offers state-of-the-art Women s Centers focusing on women s health and wellness. Designed to care for a woman throughout her life from preconception and childbirth to midlife and beyond the Center specializes in GYN, cancer care and surgical services. Northside has treated more cases of endometriosis by operative laparoscopy and robotics than any other hospital in Georgia and is ranked in the top 5 percent of U.S. hospitals for GYN robotic surgical procedures. Do you enjoy teaching parents the basics of caring for their newborn* Are you good at building confidence in parents as they take on the parenting role* Do you enjoy helping newborns adjust to life outside the womb* Do you want to be a part of the leading organization in maternity services, delivering more babies a year than any other community hospital in the country (more than 18,000 births annually)* If these questions describe you, we have just the position for you! We are seeking an experienced RN to join our Nursery team. Some of your essential job functions include: Responsible and accountable for assessing, delegating and coordinating the nursing care to patients; Providing a thorough full term newborn physical assessment based upon knowledge of expected adaptation to life outside the womb, including understanding the physiological changes which take place during newborn transitional period; Having a keen sense of awareness of the newborn s health and well-being, and proactively responding to any changes in the newborn s condition; Oversight to all infants in the newborn nursery; Educating parents in infant care and feeding; Assisting in educating parents on using medical equipment, as needed
Must Have Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrable experience as a critical thinker to quickly recognize any change in a patient s condition; Effective communication skills to communicate essential information regarding mother and/or baby to the appropriate specialty; Experience with patient/family teaching from admission throughout hospitalization to discharge; Is proactive. Anticipates and responds to patient/physician/family members/coworkers needs. Demonstrates an energetic and positive approach to work; Demonstrable sense of ownership. Pays attention to details of job, ensures all mandatory obligations are met Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Proof of annual continuing education in area related to newborn care (16 hours within the last 2 years minimum). Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Experience: 4 + years of nursery or newborn or NICU experience or 3 years of mother/baby experience; Newborn admission assessment experience. Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience Certificate/License: Registered Professional Nurse Licensed in the State of Georgia. Certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Preferred: National Certification in area related to newborn care
