Job Description
The Wireless Performance engineer will join a 3G/4G Network Transformation Operations Center for the clients program to do performance monitoring, reporting & management for the clients network. This position will have responsibility for understanding the clients performance (KPI/SLA) monitoring requirements, how it relates to network acceptance & 3G/4G performance monitoring & reporting working.
Key Responsibilities / Functions:
1.Customer interface for wireless performance management of 3G & 4G RAN. (CDMA/EVDO, LTE).
2.Perform day-to-day performance monitoring, analyses & management (Understand performance trends and take necessary actions like parameter management, Tier1/2 support, escalations if needed) across 3G & 4G networks in a particular market
3.Responsible for gaining customer acceptance for market KPIs/SLAs in the designated Region (Eg. Region: Northeast (NY, Boston, DC etc))
4.Tier1/Tier2 support for all 3G & 4G Performance issues in the Region.
5.If any issues are found, perform preliminary analysis, submit reports to management as needed, work with RF, integration, tech. support teams & agreed up on escalation paths to arrive at a resolution
6.Be the technical Subject matter expert for performance KPIs/SLAs in the Region across RAN, Core, backhaul & RF (This involves MLSs/routers) for internal teams as well as for the customer
Required Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge):
1.5-7 years experience in working with a major wireless operator in a performance management function
2.Strong communication & presentation skills
3.In-depth knowledge of 3G and 4G Wireless architectures in the following areas: CDMA 1x Voice/EVDO, LTE, Backhaul (IPBH, EBH, MW BH), IP, LGP, WIN, and/or service delivery platforms.
4.Experience in supporting Tier1 US wireless operator and overall understanding of Provider's processes and network is necessary. Ability to gain the trust of the customer is critical.
5.Need outstanding inter-personal skills with a positive and can-do attitude
6.Experience teaming with other service delivery teams is necessary
7.Clear understanding of air interface, 3GPP network topology and handset standards
8.A good understanding of the client's CDMA, LTE architecture preferred.
9.Familiarity with 3G & 4G Key Performance Indicators (KPI) parameters as well as troubleshooting techniques desired.
10.Experience with PLANET, CDMA/LTE RF optimization & planning tools preferred
11.Candidates must have knowledge of commercial CDMA/EVDO (LTE preferred) network optimization to help fix and improve customer experience, a broad understanding of CDMA technology. Candidates must have an extensive understanding of Radio Resource Management functionalities (e.g. Handover control, Admission control i.e. capacity management, etc.) as well as the following:
12.Extensive understanding of CDMA/EVDO air interface messaging, 3GPP2 standards desired.
13.Experience with KPI of a CDMA/EVDO network
14.Understanding of stats definition and formulas
15.Understanding of protocols and signaling flow
16.Understanding CDMA link budget
17.Familiar with LTE architecture
18.Experienced in analysis for dropped calls, call setup failure etc
19.Experienced in how to detect and solve specific network problems such as pilot pollution, missing neighbors, overshooting cells etc.
