JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Description:
The AA III will provide clerical support for the Cytology section. Primary duties will include answering the phones; maintaining the slides files; performing document and slide scanning activities within the UCLA CareConnect beaker system; faxing and copying documents; supply ordering and general office maintenance as requested and otherwise performing all general office supply and maintenance activities as requested by the Cytology manager. The AA III will schedule patients into the Cytology FNA clinic and assist with CAP Proficiency Testing administration as a Proctor and with other compliance and regulatory activities.
Required: High School diploma. Preferred: Minimum of 2 years of college.
The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with medical faculty, residents, staff and key personnel in various laboratory sections. Must be dependable, have a pleasant personality with excellent phone manner and communication skills; best customer service standards important. Must possess computer skills to include Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to use electronic mail. Prefer internet and other computer-based data search skills. Ability to learn new computer applications quickly. Required: Typing skill to perform data entry functions with speed and accuracy. The candidate must be well organized and efficient and possess good time management skills. Must be a team player. General office maintenance skills. Detail oriented. Ability to carefully work with glass slides. The candidate must be able to multitask in busy office setting with frequent interruptions. Knowledge of medical terminology is required. Good physical condition with ability to bend and walk for long distances. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Flexibility required. Confidentiality agreement required, as well as the requisite HIPAA security and privacy concerns. Uniform required (to be provided by the section). Familiarity with CareConnect Beaker system including scheduling or other lab related experience preferred but will train highly qualified candidate on the job.
