Summary: The Hospice Administrator has the authority from the governing body to perform her/his responsibilities for operating the agency. Responsible for planning, coordinating, managing and directing all activities and programs of the agency. Ensures appropriate standards of patient care and nursing practice are established and implemented, and are consistent with current nursing theory and regulatory requirements. Facilitates the provision of end of life care in a cost effective manner in the patient's residence.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The statements below are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this job. The incumbents may be request to perform job related tasks other than those stated in this description.* Establishes and promotes innovative care by soliciting, coordinating and implementing innovative suggestions from employees, managers/leads, physicians, and co-director ensuring Hospice personnel stay current with clinical information and practices including local, national issues and trends.* Directs the Hospice Program day to day operations including directing staff in performance of their duties, and provision of service to patients.* Directs hospice services, by developing planning best practice to meet the health/disease needs of patients within the resources of the organization and ensuring interdisciplinary care is provided.* Insures statistical reports and appropriate data collection are maintained and analyzed for program documentation, planning, evaluation and continuous quality improvement so complete reports are received by the Governing Body and Home Care Division Senior Leadership.* Oversees development and monitoring of budgets and planning reflecting individual program and service priorities and monitoring business operations to insure financial stability.* Staff development including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and performance improvement. Develops in-services to enhance delivery of care.* Establishes, organizes and promotes the innovation and coordination process among physicians, manager/leads and employees at the Agency, as appropriate according to the structure and services.* Insuring appropriate service policies and procedures are developed and implemented to accomplish identified outcomes.* Insures appropriate staff supervision during all service hours and monitoring of service utilization to ensure delivery of comprehensive care.* Monitoring operational progress toward accomplishing operational and strategic goals.* Insures compliance with legal, regulatory, licensure and accreditation requirements.* Counsels staff as appropriate following HR guidelines, including appropriate conflict and complaint management/resolution.* Establishes and maintains effective channels of communication including integration of technology, as applicable.* Committee participation includes: Performance Improvement, Safety, Infection Control, EOC, Management and CHAP continuous readiness.* Delegates responsibility to promote the best talents and value are utilized and to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing.* Ensures adequate space, equipment and supplies are available.* Ensuring collaboration with agencies and vendors for effective management to include insuring services provided by other agencies are authorized by hospice.* Insuring standards of ethical business and clinical practice are maintained.* Ensures structure and systems promote interdisciplinary care.* Monitoring progress toward accomplishing operational and strategic goals.* Follows agency policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of patients and agency information.* Participates in appropriate team conferences, staff meetings, in-service and committees with physicians and agency staff to ensure continuity of care.* Enters, maintains and submits all documentation, including clinical and progress notes in a timely manner according to agency policy.* Attends in-service and education as required.* Adheres to Federal/ State guidelines rules regulations, statutes and law.* Follows the Code of Conduct policy.* Complies with corporate and departmental policies and procedures.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software. Must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Word)Physical Demands:* Occasionally (up to 33%) - Bending, Squatting, Climbing, Kneeling, Twisting, Pushing up to 300 lbs., Driving* Frequently (34-66%) - Walking, Standing, Lifting up to 50 lbs, Carrying up to 50 lbs,* Continuously (67-100%) - Sitting Visual, Hearing and Health Requirements:Must be able to see with corrective eye wear, Must be able to hear clearly with assistance. Must meet all NewHire and Annual Health requirements, i.e. physical, TB skin test, etc.Education/Experience:Education: Be a registered nurse, licensed physician in the state of practice or have a Bachelor's degree in inhealth care or related field required; Master's degree in health care or related field preferred.
