Job Description: Job Summary:
The Business Banking Specialist (BBS) typically works independently in a high-growth market with a large density of small businesses in the surrounding area. Maintains strong relationships with existing small business customers, as well as actively prospects for new small business and retail customers. Provides excellent customer service and works to meet all of the consumer and small business needs of the client. Proactively recognizes small business opportunities, and offers deposit, lending and other small business product solutions to meet the customer's needs and financial goals. Typically works in a medium-to-large branch as part of the retail branch team. Fosters a sense of teamwork by supporting the branch team with product delivery and service needs for all retail customers. May also interact with the community by visiting businesses, making outbound calls to customers and prospects, and conducting educational seminars.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Achieves desired sales production and scorecard objectives by performing the required sales activities and providing excellent service.
Proactively manages portfolio of assigned small business clients. Expands business banking customer relationships by identifying needs and maximizing opportunities. Ensures customer satisfaction and retention, cross-sells and makes referrals to other business segments.
Focuses on acquisition of new bank clients. Targets approved industries to maximize high potential of sales revenue and high probability to close.
Develops a Center of Influence (COI) network by engaging in business networking and community activities. BBS actively represents Synovus in the business community, generates business leads and close business opportunities. Through involvement, creates local community awareness that the bank is critically focused on partnering in the community and providing multi-product banking solutions to the small business community.
Sources and provides credit solutions for prospects and clients. The BBS develops new small business banking loans for businesses generally with revenues less than $2.5MM, and total credit exposure less than $500K. May follow up on credit referrals from Branch Manager or refer larger credits to Community Banker.
Develops small business skills and provides ongoing coaching to branch team; partners in assigned territory to effectively identify referral opportunities.
Partners with Community Banking, Synovus Securities, Mortgage, PWM, etc. to ensure ongoing and appropriate client communication to support maximization and satisfaction of client relationship.
Fosters teamwork by assisting the branch team in a front-line support capacity on an as needed basis. May support branch team by opening new deposit accounts, processing debit / credit transactions, assisting customers with consumer lending needs, and referring customers to other areas of the business.
Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience: One (1) year of relevant sales and customer service experience with Bachelors Degree in Business or related discipline OR (4) years of banking experience with (2) of those years in a banking sales position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Exceptional consultative and communication skills to influence and build relationships
- Ability to ask questions/probe, listen and present information in a clear manner that adds value and builds rapport
- Proven success in a sales/goal-oriented environment
Certification(s): This position requires successful registration and issuance of a unique identification number from the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) in compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE ACT). Registration must be accomplished within the first 90 days of employment and includes a nationwide finger print check.
