JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The BH Physician Liaison is responsible for supporting new relationships with community providers (both physician groups and institutions) while building upon existing relationships within specified geographic regions. This role collaborates with specific BH centers of excellence to support targeted outreach activities. Under the direction of the Manager of Client and Physician Relations, this role will be tasked to advance a range of initiatives with external providers in support of BH strategic priorities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Within their assigned region / service lines:

a. In conjunction with Centers of Excellence (COE) medical and administrative leadership, develop, execute and regularly monitor strategic plans for outreach activities

b. Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with targeted community providers and their staff as well as with community hospital personnel

c. Serve as a regular point of contact for the community partners to allow for regular sharing of feedback, identification of issues, need for additional support in order to maintain a successful, collaborative relationship between BH and the community providers

d. Share Center of Excellence program information to build awareness of services available at BH.

e. Partner with community hospital medical education staff to arrange for BH physicians to present at grand rounds, tumor boards, etc.

2. Utilize the department customer relationship management system to track all activities phone calls, visits, educational programs in a timely manner. Produce monthly reports on activity.

3. Exhibit acute problem solving skills: The BH Physician Liaison will serve as the on the ground presence for BH and is responsible for escalating issues as necessary and appropriate Ability to identify urgent patient referral situations and work with internal personnel to resolve in a timely manner.

4. Collaborate with BH marketing/public affairs staff to develop or identify any necessary marketing materials

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelors degree required

* Previous experience as a physician liaison or in similar role involving direct outreach to physicians.

* Five to seven years of progressively responsible health care experience with at least two years being in health care organizations

* Previous experience using Salesforce or comparable CRM platform

* Must be extremely mature and have excellent judgment since he or she will working independently and will often be the face of BH in the community

* Must possess superb listening and interpersonal communication skills

* Must have excellent communication and follow-through skills and demonstrate enthusiasm for customer service

* Must be able to recognize an acute problem (i.e. need for an immediate outpatient referral) and know how to work effectively in a large organization to get a timely solution

* Must be highly skillful in collaborating with physicians and administrative leaders

* Must enjoy a flexible schedule, to accommodate evening and occasional weekend programs.

* Must have a valid drivers license and a car, as position requires frequent travel within Eastern Massachusetts / New England.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Remote work environment. Employee will be given a laptop with access to the BH network. There are monthly required office days for team and individual meetings. Travel in personal car between for outreach activities and to other area sites will be required.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:

Department budget expenditures will be developed and communicated by Department Manager
