Job Description:

1. Provides pastoral coverage as needed. a. In the absence if the Director, responds to pages 24/7. b. As necessary, responds to emergencies to provide patient/family/staff support, prayers and other rituals as needed and appropriate. c. If off-site, is able to be present in the hospital within 30-45 minutes. 2. Is present on-site at least 9 hours/week a. Responds to non-emergent phone messages and chaplain consults b. Consults with unit secretaries and nurse managers to determine unit specific needs and responds appropriately. c. Reviews new CMO patients to determine if spiritual/religious needs are being met. 3. If appropriate, attends Wyman Center treatment team meeting and facilitates Spirituality Group for patients 4. As necessary, refers Ethics Consults or other matters to the appropriate coverage. 5. Keeps log of all activity and responses: calls, consults, patient encounters, etc.









REQUIREMENTS:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1. One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent supervised hospital ministry experience. 2 Post-baccalaureate theology study preferred. 3. Familiarity with interfaith practices and ability to work in an interfaith setting with interfaith colleagues. 4. Willingness and ability to minister to an interfaith population. 5. Personal involvement in a worshipping community. 6. Excellent interpersonal skills 7. Demonstrated ability to understand and work collaboratively with other health care and service providers. 8. Ability to work independently.
