The VCU Health Systems Virginia Treatment Center for Children (VTCC) seeks an experienced clinical Social Work Supervisor to provide supervision and clinical services in an acute child and adolescent psychiatric unit along with some outpatient clinical services to children, adolescents, and adults. VTCC will be relocating to a new, innovative facility on the Childrens Hospital of VCU at Brook Road in Richmond. This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical services, clinical supervision, administration, teaching and program development
To manage the impact of social service delivery/case management and psychotherapy in individual, group and family settings as required in assigned clinics; to support the mission and goals of the department; to provide both direct patient care to patients and families and assist in the coordination of team delivered services; and to provide clinical therapy to inpatient and some outpatient/EAP services as required. Ensures that appropriate staffing is available daily to meet the patient care needs of the assigned clinics; evaluates the performance of assigned staff (licensed and unlicensed) and trainees, completes organizational annual performance evaluations; addresses disciplinary issues and communicates these issues to management; and participate in program development and evaluation. Clinical responsibilities include completion of a psychosocial assessment for patients identified in need of social work services; development of treatment plans that are congruent with the overall health care plan; implementation of psychosocial interventions and therapies; education of patients, their family members, staff, social work students and trainees as assigned; facilitation of patients compliance with treatment; collaboration with the community to provide needed services; interaction with utilization management if required; and coordination of pre-hospital and discharge planning activities.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Virginia required
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment including CPR, etc.:
Current LCSW license
Level and type of experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of seven (7) years of clinical social work experience to include two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role
Level and type of experience PREFERRED:
Clinical social work experience in an acute care setting
Education/training REQUIRED:
Masters of Social Work Degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program
Education/training PREFERRED:
Experience in an academic medical center or other teaching setting. Advanced training in evidence-based treatment approaches. Full time 1: Days Masters degree is required
