KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Strategy and Planning
-Partner with the Director of Communications and Public Affairs to advance the school's content strategy, developing thought leadership plans, spanning owned content, earned media, and event tactics, to promote Harris' faculty and areas of research focus for the school.
-Manage Harris' existing owned digital content hubs (including, the News & Events and Research & Impact verticals on harris.uchicago.edu) and e-newsletters as well as propose new digital platforms expanded thought leadership storytelling
-Collaborate with Harris' Social Media Manger on content strategy and development for social media channels that are instrumental to policy engagement (e.g., Twitter)
-Propose potential content and media partners to amplify content and augment distribution
-Work closely with Harris faculty in understanding and translating their research into timely, newsworthy stories that engage the policy community and a broader informed audience

Written Content
-Ideate, create and edit content materials including articles and press releases, coordinating with Communications team as well as other Harris staff as necessary
-Manage creation of printed publications, electronic newsletters, marketing materials and other content designed to engage media and policy community.
Work with freelancers on selected writing projects and articles

Multimedia Content
-Manage the editorial calendar for Harris' podcasts series and work with freelancers in overseeing the production of podcast content
-Hire and manage freelance videographers and manage subsequent video editing for larger video projects
-Ideate, film and edit videos highlighting Harris faculty, students, etc. for distribution on the website and social media.
-Brainstorm video ideas with communications team that help communicate Harris' brand and priorities to viewers
-Capture and edit video interviews and other content
-Input dialogue, music, and graphics as needed
-Create rough and final cuts of videos for distribution
-Assist in maintenance of digital and print assets
-Hire and manage photographers as needed

Oversee Special Projects and Other Department Activities
-Monitor, report, and evaluate the results of thought leadership programming
-Follow and share trends in content marketing and media relations as well as peer institution activities
-Perform other related duties as assigned to support the school's overall communications plan and the Dean's priorities
-Assist with special projects and announcements as they arise
-Support media relations outreach, as needed
