Exciting opportunity for a Director of Product Development for CPE Devices, leading and delivering cutting edge CPE devices. You will be delivering innovative products. You will work on products that will bring together cutting edge NGPON2, WIFI 802.11ax, IOT, voice recognition, machine learning technologies to offer the best user experience by enabling best in class performance WIFI, securing me devices and automating the home of tomorrow. The Software is architected to run from low end SOCs to cutting edge SOCs. We are working on exciting new architectures based on open source software, modern development tools, and agile development practices. Our products are Linux-based with residential gateway, VoIP, IPTV, cloud management, SDN, GUI, WiFi and Ethernet OAM capabilities fully integrated on platforms that deliver from 1 Gbs to 10 Gbs services. Our CPE devices run embedded Linux with multi-core processors, line rate switching and embedded technologies from optical drivers to the latest in wireless. - Define and deliver the next generation Calix CPE devices. - Establish collaborative and effective partnerships with Engineering and Test Managers, Product Line Leadership, Program Managers, PMO, IT, and key leaders in Marketing, Operations, Support, and Sales. - Manage ODMs to deliver products on a fast cadence. - Build a world class development organization to deliver market winners innovative CPE devices. - Leverage partners to accelerate time to market. - Identify opportunities for process optimization, process redesign, development of processes or implementation of enhanced tools related to Product Development within Calix. - Manage and guide project team through software development cycles.

Technical Knowledge: - Excellent knowledge of CPE devices technologies in the carrier space: PON, VDSL/G.fast, Wifi (802.11n, 802.11ac, 802.11ax), Z-Wave, ZigBee, IFTTT, security applications, machine learning, mobile applications, cloud applications, virtualization. - Excellent knowledge of the HW eco system to build CPE devices on WAN and Wifi sides, the candidate must have worked with suppliers such as Broadcom, Qualcomm, Realtek. - Excellent network with ODM s manufacturing CPE devices. - Excellent knowledge of networking for wireless devices such as mesh, node steering, band steering. - Excellent knowledge of distros for CPE devices: Open-WRT, DD-WRT, Tomato, LEDE. - Experience in embedded network management domain (SNMP, TR69, Netconf, Yang), including carrier class provisioning, surveillance, modelling, and scale - Experience with User Interfaces and Usability aspects - Experience in working with 3rd party stack vendors as well as integration partners - Extensive experience with embedded Linux based CPE residential gateway device development - Experience with Ethernet and/or IP services and protocols including RG/NAT/Firewall applications - Deep hands-on technical expertise and a history of developing and managing well-engineered solutions. Project/Program Knowledge: - Excellent understanding of SW lifecycle and SW methodologies (waterfall, iterative, Agile, continuous integration) to deliver high quality products on a fast pace. - Advanced knowledge of software development for multi-product such as code re-use and branching strategy. - Demonstrated ability to learn and embrace new technologies, applications, commercial and open source components and solutions. - Strong quantitative and analytical aptitude. Able to present, organize, and convey complex problems or issues within and across other functions. - Strong leadership, project management, influencing, negotiation and decision-making skills, coupled with sound judgement. Ability to manage projects within functional teams and across the organization. Ability to build relationships. - Demonstrable, strong customer-service attitude. - Excellent time management, and solution-oriented skills. - Must be a team player with the ability to identify issues and be proactive in driving solutions - Excellent project management skills (use of Microsoft Project Plan tool an asset) - Experience managing a complex mix of projects and working closely with other parts of the business to communicate and deliver against various goals - Proven track record of delivering high quality software on schedule, including delivery for large, cross-functional projects - Ensure high standards, timely releases, and consistent quality in roadmap planning, architecture discussions, code reviews, and setting standards. Background: - C, C++, XML, Java, Web GUI experience - Software Configuration Tool such as GIT - 15+ years experience in software development of carrier class networking products - 5+ years experience direct leadership of engineering teams doing CPE development - Amazing people management skills with the ability to foster collaboration and openness - Outstanding collaboration skills with a proven ability to work across language and cultural boundaries and cross functionally meet shared organizational goals - Proven ability to work across English and Chinese speaking development, PLL, and PM teams to deliver end to end solutions - Experience in cross-functional English/Chinese co-development projects - Fluent in in both written and spoken English and Mandarin - Strong written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills - BS in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. MS preferred.
