The Systems and Electronics design group is growing and looking for an electro-mechanical engineering expertise with 3D CAD tools for design and simulation.
This position requires creativity and innovation to propose, prototype, and deliver new concepts and designs related to industrial electronic enclosures in harsh environments.
Design challenges include optimal electrical and mechanical structure layout and protection for for shock and vibration, efficient thermal transfer for sealed enclosures, and streamlined designs for manufacturing including plastics and sheet metal.
Experience in hardware design, component selection, simulation, prototype assembly, testing and control.
The Electro-Mechanical Engineer will be required to demonstrate technical knowledge and expertise in the following areas:
FMEA & 8D root cause analysis
Solidworks for 3D CAD
Thermal CFD (Computational Fluid Dinamics) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) with an understanding of the constraints and limitations for these methods
EMI (Electromagnetic disturbance)/EMC ( Electromagnetic compatibility)
Electrical circuit layout and design
Design and testing experience with kW level power electronic designs and products (DC/DC and AC/DC) (Direct Current/ Altern Current)
Understanding of basic thermal management and heat sink selection for power electronics
Optimal selection of common power electronic components including switching devices, gate drivers, and magnetics
Understanding of standard modulation techniques and control methods for power electronics
Supports product from design stage to industrialization
Innovation and promotion of ideas and concepts that can be leveraged into new products
Simulation to quickly iterate early design decisions
Material selection and capability surveys to aid in down selection of new technologies
Designs molded, welded, etched, stamped, machined, and extruded components
Power converter system modeling, simulation and design
Prototype testing in an industrial lab setting involving voltage ranges of 600Vac and 1500Vdc
Documentation and report generation for all design phases and verification test results
Maintain version control of all designs and documents
Ability to work efficiently and safely in an industrial development environment
Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to generate optimal system solutions for new products
Define BOMs (Bill of Materials)
Supports product from design stage to industrialization ( Prototype, A,B and C sample DV (Design Validation) and PV (Product Validation) testing)
Assist Sr. Level designers in the completion of NPI ( New Product Integration) projects
Applicants must have the following minimum education, skills, and work experience:
BS in Electro-Mechanical Engineering with exposure to 3D CAD and simulation, electrical design (electrical controllers)
Good engineering communications and documentation skills
Strong computer skills to leverage modern CAD tools and simulation packages
Ability to multitask and prioritize to support a collaborative team environment
The ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply them to new designs
