L.B. Foster Companys Energy Services segment provides inspection and tubular integrity management services for the upstream oil and gas industry. Services include non-destructive testing, inspection, and other asset integrity services such as repair and threading for OCTG and drill tools.
Reporting to an EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist is responsible for updating and maintaining EHS Systems to ensure compliance with local, state and federal environmental health and safety regulations for a specified operational group or groups within a business unit.
Assists with the design, development & improvement of facilities, work areas and safe work policies & procedures (including Field Services); makes environmental health and safety recommendations accordingly.
Administer EHS system requirements for assigned operational group(s)
Conduct EHS audits of facilities to measure results and effectiveness of existing EHS programs, policies, procedures, and metrics.
Administer systems ensuring business unit facilities qualify as approved suppliers through recently developing contractor/supplier management systems (i.e. ISNetworld).
Administer business unit EHS System in preparation for ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001.
Sustain Systems focused on injury prevention, environmental protection & regulatory compliance. Maintain existing EHS Tracking software.
Maintain working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health & safety regulations and determine applicability within the business unit.
Train/coach managers, supervisors and employees in EHS requirements and accountability
Maintain required data in the EHS/Quality system - INTELEX
Serve as an additional EHS resource for the organization
Position requires travel (30% - 65%); amount of travel will depend on the facilities assigned to the incumbent
Skills, Experience and Education:
Bachelors Degree in Safety Science or similar technical program and 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment or operational setting; or, in lieu of educational requirements previously described, a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role in a manufacturing environment
Strong computer skills with office software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio).
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to travel
Problem solving skills and the ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees at all levels within the organization.
Willing and able to become increasingly fluent in the use of INTELEX, the cloud-based EHS/Quality system
EHS Specialists within the Energy business unit may be required to obtain additional industry- specific training or specialty knowledge.
